Instructions for Setting the DEFAULT Home Page
Using a Local File as the Default
- Launch NCSA Mosaic for the Macintosh
- Select "Open Local..." option from the File Menu
- Use the standard file dialog to locate the file on your
hard drive to load at launch-time
- Make sure the URL is displayed - this can be done by
selecting "Show URL" from the Option Menu
- Use the mouse to highlight the URL displayed in the
URL box
- Copy the URL (select "Copy" from the Edit Menu)
- Open the Preferences Dialog by selecting "Preferences..."
from the Options Menu
- Paste the URL into Home Page box (replacing the original text)
- Select "Apply" to save the changes.
- Test by relaunching Mosaic
Sample Local Home Page. Select "Load to Disk" from Options Menu to transfer this
file to your hard drive.
Using a File out in Cyberspace as the Default
- Launch NCSA Mosaic for the Macintosh
- Select "Open URL..." option from the File Menu
or find the document by selecting a hotlink
- Make sure the URL is displayed - this can be done by
selecting "Show URL" from the Option Menu
- Use the mouse to highlight the URL displayed in the
URL box
- Copy the URL (select "Copy" from the Edit Menu)
- Open the Preferences Dialog by selecting "Preferences..."
from the Options Menu
- Paste the URL into Home Page box (replacing the original text)
- Select "Apply" to save the changes.
- Test by relaunching Mosaic
